You can find Methanol in a huge range of products that touch our daily life. Main applications are primarily as solvent and in the manufacturing of further downstream products:
- “Formaldehyde” for mainly glue and board production,
- “Acetic Acid” for solvents of Ink & Paints,
- “Methyl Tert-Butyl Ether (MTBE)” as Gasoline’s Octane booster,
- “Biodiesel” supporting renewable energy,
- “Olefin” produced from Methanol (conventionally produced by Naphtha cracking), and
- Energy storage for “Fuel-Cell”.
Our parent company, Mitsubishi Corporation, has shares in two Joint Venture companies producing Methanol in the Caribbean Sea. The first joint venture named Methanol de Oriente, (METOR) S.A. in Jose, Venezuela started its Methanol production in 1994 and expanded in 2010 to its total capacity of 1.6 million MT per year.
The second Joint Venture named Caribbean Gas Chemical Limited (CGCL) in La Brea, Trinidad and Tobago, started its Methanol production in 2020 with a capacity of 1.0 million MT per year.
IVICT Europe is one of the major Methanol players with a wide network in the Methanol trading world in Europe. We are handling one millon MT per year via five locations spreading from North West Europe ports, such as Antwerp-Rotterdam-Area to Southern Europe in Mediterranean and Black Sea ports.
Our sources are joint venture productions as well as third party products, which provides a stable, constant and reliable supply to our customers. We perform our distribution by Oceangoing Vessels, Barges, Rail Cars and Trucks. Special requirements like deliveries in IBCs can be provided as well.
